The Comelec department inspires its objectives and activities from the knowledge triangle, which expresses the strong links existing between education, innovation and research. In this respect, it is broadly involved in the engineering degree curriculum, in lifelong learning and in PhD training. The research is fully focused on information and communications technologies (ICT), both regarding academic sceintific production and applied studies/innovative developments, which are mostly conducted cooperatively with industry and with high-tech companies.

 

ICT penetrates society a little more everyday and these technologies revolutionize the way society is functioning. The technical objects on which this evolution is based very much concentrate the multi-disciplinarity of ICT, exploiting the understanding of physical phenomena through algorithmic techniques for signal and data processing and the insertion of the latter in a global information system. Comelec focuses on the physical basis and hardware/software implementations of this processing, as well as on the issues of design/modeling./integration of ICT objects within the information system. This thread has direct impacts on the education, innovation and research activities of the department.

The laboratory is organized in 5 teams of LTCI (UMR 5141), which a joint research unit between CNRS and Telecom ParisTech. One of these teams is structured in 2 groups located on two different geographical sites.

  • Circuits and communications systems (C²S)
  • Digital communications (ComNum)
  • Optical telecommunications (GTO)
  • RF and microwaves (RFM)
  • Complex digital electronic systems (SEN & LabSoc)

Comelec life is also vivid in its seminars and events.
